Anambra: Dozie Nwankwo plots to unseat Deputy Governor, pays House Members to impeach him

Anambra state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke would likely face impeachment in 2015, according to our reliable sources.
Sources alleged that the impeachment is been masterminded by his kinsman, Mr. Dozie Nwakwo, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Aspirant for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal House of Representative on 2015 general election.
The source also alleged that Mr. Dozie Nwankwo is bankrolling some negative media reports blackmailing the Deputy Governor so as to replace him.
He claimed that trouble started when Enugu ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area, the country-home of both Dr. Nkem Okeke and Mr. Dozie Nwankwo, chose the later as Governor Willie Obiano’s running mate during the Anambra November 16th 2013 gubernatorial poll against the wishes of the former, who had aspired for the position, and there was nothing he could do to withhold the hand of clock.
As a result, he (Nwakwo) reignited his ambition towards getting APGA’s ticket for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency on 2015 general elections only to be disappointed a second time by his people, who insisted that the position was reserved to one Chief Mike Nkwocha, also from the community.
To that effect, major Stakeholders of Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal Constituency in a forum, last weekend, waded into the controversial crisis and lambasted Mr. Dozie Nwankwo over what they termed “his exuberant vitriolic attacks” on the Deputy governor and Chief Nkwocha, even as they urged him to sacrifice his ambition  to represent the Federal Constituency, and rather consider settling for the House of Assembly seat for Njikoka State Constituency with a view to building his political empire, maturity and gain political experience.
According to our sources the stakeholders’ intervention appear to have been flouted as Mr. Nwankwo allegedly fingered in the blackmailing of political leaders and stakeholders as well as sponsorship of impeachment threat against the Deputy Governor who, it was learnt, shared the view of anti-Nwankwo supporters for Chief Nkwocha to go to the National Assembly to represent the Federal Constituency.
The latest plan, our sources further alleged is to instigate crises in APGA through spurious allegation that the Deputy Governor is nursing an ambition to succeed Governor Obiano as well as working to unseat his principal; an allegation, the stakeholders described as unfounded and cheap.
It was further gathered that the camp of Mr. Nwankwo were spreading rumours that Governor Obiano would move against his deputy, Dr. Nkem after the 2015 general elections in order to throw the door open for fresh contest of the Deputy Governorship seat.
To quicken the rumoured ouster of the Deputy Governor, a member of Nwankwo campaign team spying for the Stakeholders who pleaded anonymity claimed that the ambitious young money bag is mobilizing the state house of assembly members to back his bid to impeach Dr. Okeke, even as he allegedly assured the lawmakers that he was facilitating a parley with the State governor where he would sell the spurious dummy, which according to sources, leaked, forcing governor Obiano to issue media statement distancing himself from the gambit of Mr. Nwankwo, the   brother in-law of the Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi  Amechi.
However, our sources, maintained that governor Obiano is yet to make up his mind to move against his Deputy sequel to the allegation of insubordination and ambition to engineer his impeachment.
Similarly, Mr. Nwakwo is allegedly working tirelessly to get the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh to buy into the project, although the camp, was not convinced as the Presidency allegedly warned APGA leadership against fielding him (Mr. Nwankwo) in the race.
To that effect, the Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Stakeholders Forum in a press release issued by its Coordinator, Dr. Emmanuel Nweke, condemned what it termed “scrupulous media attacks on the impeccable integrity of the deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke and Chief Mike Nkwocha (Aguiyi) by a group that calls itself APGA Greater Tomorrow for Good Governance allegedly sponsored by Mr. Nwankwo”, who it claimed is ready “to ravage his patrimony for lucre of office”.
The statement added that: “It is incontrovertible that Chief Mike Nkwocha is a grassroots politician who has always influenced the outcome of political contest in his constituency in particular and Anambra State in general and cannot be diminished by any attack from an upstart. It is also on record that it was the same chief Nkwocha in conjunction with other stakeholders that made it possible for Governor Obiano to win in our Federal constituency during the last gubernatorial contest. Also it is same chief mike Nkwocha that made it possible for APGA to win the last council election in Njikoka LGA by helping to deliver massive votes for the council chairman and 18 councillors.”
“Nkwocha had always supported Governor Obiano and APGA and would not stand aside and watch APGA to field a political Lilliputian in a very decisive electoral contest…It is very embarrassing and irritating that Nwankwo and his team's attempt to link Chief Nkwocha and the highly respected deputy Governor to his travails”, the press release added and questioned Mr. Nwankwo’s opposing stance in the past elections “when the Deputy Governor, chief Nkwocha and other stakeholders were working day and night to galvanize votes for Governor Obiano and Njikoka Local Government Council Chairman and 18 Councillors”.
Furthermore, the forum claimed that it was aware that Mr. Nwankwo’s sponsored “attacks on the deputy Governor and chief Mike Nkwocha is targeted at creating confusion and destabilizing APGA before he defects to Labour party where he has been promised a ticket by the controversial Labour Party chairman Engr. Sam Oraegbunam (Ozocha) who he appointed his campaign Director in preparation for his eventual defection.”
It also urged Nwankwo not to drag the Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Stakeholders Forum “to fight as stooges against the wife of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan who has kicked against his aspiration when we have Chief Mike Nkwocha, a better and credible personality contesting for same office”.
Additionally, while accusing Nwankwo of betraying the former Information Minister, Late  Professor Dora Akunyili and APGA in 2011, the stakeholders’ mouthpiece lampooned Mr. Nwankwo and his cohorts for being responsible for the “growing sectarian tension in the constituency by misinforming some Reverend fathers that chief Nkwocha is not of the catholic faithful but Anglican” as well as “for dragging revered church leaders (who are not aware of his real problems) into the muddy waters of politics by misinforming and mobilizing them to visit respected party leaders and in the process exacerbating the strained sectarian relationship in our constituency.”
The group, then called on “Mr.Nwankwo and his faceless group to articulate their campaign programs by telling the people of Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal constituency their vision for our people instead of pursuing illusions and character assassination as a means of hiding their incompetency and blaming others for their inadequacies.”
However, reacting in a telephone interview, Engr. Samuel Oraegbunam denied been appointed Director General of Dozie Nwankwo campaign organization, and knowledge of the impeachment saga, even as he implored the rumour mongers to sheer away from character assassination in the name of scoring cheap political gain.
