NLC Congratulates Obiano

Anambra state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has congratulated the newly sworn-in Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

Speaking in an interview, Comrade Charles Onyeagba, the state’s former Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, congratulated the new Governor, imploring him to look into implementation of Minimum Wage recently announced by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Comrade Onyeagba who pledged labour’s support to the new administration, stressed that the new Minimum Wage, if headed to, would boost productivity in the state and in furtherance ensure optimum service delivery as the Civil Servants would be encouraged to be more hardworking.  
Orient Daily recalled that 36 state governors under the aegis of Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), unanimously agreed to pay the new minimum wage of N18, 000 after its marathon meeting at Abuja in 2011 as a way of augmenting workers meagre salaries.

However, Anambra state government among few other states are yet to implement it.
Onyeagba, therefore scored the past Executive Governor high in all sectors exception of workers welfare, even as he reiterated the needs for the incumbent to resolve their various needs.
